“Caramel Monster” is a family fantasy and comedy about a little monster who looks scary only at first glance, but in fact loves sweets, music and people who don’t scream at the sight of his fangs. He appears in an ordinary city from a strange portal or an old box of sweets, and immediately changes the life of the main character, a schoolboy or a young girl, who decide to hide him from adults and from miracle hunters. Caramel has funny and dangerous abilities, he can change shape, create sticky sweet traps or attract other creatures to himself, and because of this, every day turns into an adventure. The series is built on warm scenes of friendship, care and acceptance, as the characters learn to understand that monster does not equal evil, and that fear is often born from ignorance. Gradually, a big line appears about why the monster ended up in our world and what will happen if the portal opens again. The story combines cuteness, action and a little sadness when you have to say goodbye or grow up. This anime is about friendship with someone who is different from you, and that the sweetest magic is goodness, which is chosen consciously.
